BeePre Forged by Lightning!

It took me a very long time to get this done, death in the family, and a lot of other stuff going on.  Just when I was almost done lightning struck! Not figuratively but literally, unfortunately.  Most of the west Twin Cities was with out power, mine was out <24hr thank god (my record was 5 days, years ago). Once power was restored the Beepre no longer worked. Long story short the wire from the neutral lead in the IEC was completely burned through, I was not home at the time but there must have been a lightning strike.

I went a mostly stock route.  Upgraded pots, output  caps, and some resistors and of course some wires. Finally Im done, untill I find input transformers ( I have 2 RCA outs and used the XLR for an input )

Its shelf liner. It is kinda like a foam rubber material, I have used is on several projects.  It seems to help keep vibrations down.

That's exactly what I like to do. When I go into a store, I'm always looking at stuff thinking,"I wonder what I could use that for?" Countless times, I have found a great use for 'odd' material. It is one of the strengths of a kit building mind.

True.  I like to think that this shelf liner attached with contact cement, has to be almost as good as expensive sorbothane sheets on the underside, to the point that any additional vibration damping given by the sorbothane dose not justify the price.  At least in my mind, and I could be wrong.

Well, sorbothane isn't cheap. I did find a good vinyl damping sheet at parts express. It does pretty well compared to even Dynamat which is also expensive. I'm with you though. My mom was going to throw away an old broken exercise machine. I salvaged parts and made: 1) an out feed table for my table saw, 2) damping sheets from the tread used for all kinds of stuff, 3) good steel tubing for welding projects. FWIW, none of them look like crap in the projects that I made, and are better than what I could buy elsewhere.
