Just got back from AXPONA about two hours ago and I'm sitting down to a way too late in the day cappuccino to combat a complete lack of temporal acuity. T'was a real blitz of a weekend. Some interesting new products and people to see, and for me it was an absolute delight to see several old industry friends. Jameson should of course fill you in on the highlights of the show - his first. Give him a few days to recover and collect his thoughts. Being at one of these shows as an industry person is quite overwhelming and exhausting and even moreso the very first time. I've done (and put on) so many that I couldn't count them all when asked the number a couple times this weekend. And I still got pooped from this one even though just attending as a retired tire kicking old fart.
The main reason I am posting is to affirm to you that Jameson, Lindsey, Jean and Eric are absolutely the best people one could imagine to have taken over Bottlehead. Eileen and I came back feeling so good about how they have smoothly handled the transition, improved things like delivery times and site appearance and function, and done the heavy lifting of getting out new products that we ran out of time to complete before we retired. And they have only owned and operated the company for nine months! Astounding.
Jameson and I talked a lot about the future, at least as much as we could with everything else that was going on in a very busy and short period of time. A good game plan is developing and I hope to be involved in an advisory capacity if and only if Jameson and his partners need anything. Getting to play the emeritus poobah without actually doing any of the work is kind of fun and is getting me re-enthused about audio stuff.
I would be most remiss here if I did not thank my OGs PJ and PB for all of the guidance they have provided (and continue to provide) Jameson and crew as well. Thanks guy, you are the best.
OK back to motorcycle racing, house restoration and maybe just one more espresso...
