Another battery thread

I was at Costco yesterday, and stopped to check out the batteries. Eight 9-v for $16 - better than the drugstore but still not cheap. But the I noticed they had forty AA cells for the same price. It takes 24 cells to make a nominal 36-v battery, but AA cells have about 4 times the mAh current capacity.

I didn't go any further with this, just something to think about.  :^)

So, it seems that if the nominal supply voltage was reduced to 30v that could work out to be both cost effective and just a lot more convenient overall. (for non-rechargeables).

Time to go do some research on AA holders .

If I remember correctly a 9V is actually made up of 6 AAAA batteries which would explain the lower current capacity.

I went with 2 sets of re-chargeable's from Maplin in the UK. A pack of three 9v is just

Was at the local HomeDepot picking up some 9v and found a pack of 48 AA batteries for $11. Currently looking at one of the ugliest 38v battery packs I've ever seen... Primarily because I've only seen one. But for $5.50 its worth trying out...

How long do those $0.25 GI brand 9V batteries last? Anyone used some yet?

So I tried it, and assuming it was hooked correctly, I got crackling in my speakers when adjusting the input pots on my power amp...not too sure what Isis wrong there. The positive and negative of the leads run each to the centre most two battery terminal connections, one each on a separate battery holder, correct?

Got my Quickie 1.1 built over the weekend. Found these really cool yellow alkaline batteries at IKEA, $1.99 for 9V, 2 pack of D cells $1.99.
