Todays recipe is for jaw-droppingly good sounding gear.
Ingredients:
1 - Bottlehead Quickie
1 - PJCCS
2 - Clarity Cap ESA series 2.2uF output caps.
1 - PEC 100K Stereo pot
4 - Resistors to adjust input signal strength
(I used pairs of Caddock 75K and Vishay/Dale 1% metal film 46.4K I had lying around)
1 - S.E.X. Amp
1 - C4S
2 - 0.1uF TFTT V-caps (I use .47uF as that's what I had on hand)
2 - Clarity Cap ESA Series 1uF output caps
Optional
Aprox. 4' of Homegrownaudio Cotton insulated 22awg Silver wire (from the output tranny to both headphone jack and speaker outputs)
The last part I added was the C4S on the sex amp and I wasn't sure if it could get any better. It did get better. I'm just stunned by how great this combo sounds! Even using my ipod with Apple Lossless as a source and my $25 Philips ear buds I'm hearing details in the music like never before. I can hear clearly everything going on in the song. Every instrument and backing vocal has a life of its own. PRAT is off the charts. I haven't even upgraded the iron in the sex amp! The tubes I have are nothing special as far as I know.
Seriously, for less than a grand these are truly giant killers! The last time I heard sound this good was through a $$$$$ system.
