does anyone have a feeling for the 45 that are on the market. And are there any good deals. The best I have found are used for about 80 each. But what is the story on china made 45s?

i have sophia electric  mesh plate 45's-they are chinese made -they are excellent-i like them  much better than the rca 45's

I'm pretty happy with my standard black base Sophia 45 mesh plates.

They really surprised me having come from more expensive type 300B and 2A3 tubes. I'm curious to read of Paully's findings.

My findings won't be of particular interest.  My active tube rolling days were somewhat over when I started playing around with 45s.  7N7 I learned a lot about for my FPIII, but I put in a pair of 45s in my Paramounts, Sylvania I believe, and was extremely happy with them so I left them.  I have a decent stash but I haven't bothered to roll.  It seems that $150-$200 per pair for NOS is pretty march the market price that I have seen from tube dealers.  $80 used each seems pretty steep but maybe prices have skyrocketed since I looked last.

One interesting thing that I can note, but only from research reading old posts on AA, is that (as was noted here by two posters) those who have bought the modern production 45 tubes have been so pleased that they haven't bothered to go back to old stock.  I have no personal experience, but I can't remember one single post from someone who had bought the Sophias, or whatever modern production is out there, who thought they were anything other than superb.
