Hey what's up everyone, this was the first time having any experience with a soldering iron and I burnt the power switch just a little https://mail.google.com/mail/u/1/?shva=1#inbox/13bfa7dfbf92cf2c It's burnt in between the 2 metal prongs and right by the wire that's attached with solder. Do you guys think I should get a new power switch even if the burn is very minuscule?

2nd question. What is the little glass vile looking thing with the tiny metal wire inside for? I don't recall seeing anything to do with it in the manual.

Yes, I'd call Eileen and request a new power switch.

The glass vial is a fuse, it goes in the power entry socket - just slide out the fuse cover.

IIRC, there are two places the fuse can be put in the IEC power entry modules.  The lower one is going to act as a fuse, the upper one is for a spare.  It has confused a few builders who were not familiar with it.  Is the same module still being used?

Thanks guys, and I have one more thing that I'm not sure what it is. It looks like 4 trapezoid square like things on a sticky substance. I emailed Eileen, not sure if she got my email because I didn't get a response back yet  Also if I burnt a couple of the wires, could it give me an off reading for resistance checks??

Those are the feet that go at the corners of the base.  They allow some air flow under the base.

Good description!

All of us burn some of the insulation as wires get stacked up.  If you burned all the way to the copper you can put some electrical tape on it to give it insulation.  If you burned all the way through the copper, the wire needs replacing and your iron is way too hot. (That's a joke, well kind of. Not that funny.)
