Paul Birkeland Moderator Staff member Apr 2, 2015 #2 The 12AX7 is poorly suited for driving 2A3's, and is not an acceptable or functional substitute for the 12AT7. There are tons of dual computer triodes that are similar enough to a 12AT7 to work in the circuit. Here's some light reading on the subject: http://www.audiotubes.com/12at7.htm

P Paul Joppa Moderator Apr 2, 2015 #3 The 12AY7 (or the much-admired 6072 variant) on the other hand should work in the current version of Stereomour. I don't recall that anyone has tried it yet, though, so no promises.
