What did I do wrong this time [resolved]

  I purchased some 2.2 Clarity caps to replace the .22's I had mounted up. Now only one side play's. 1&6 voltages are fine but 2 & 7 are negligible. I also slobbered solder all over the out put jack on the side that doesn't play. Could I have shorted this out? thx. Ahhh, what fun.

how about cleaning up the jack?  As far as I know, if the center conductor and ground aren't making electrical contact it should be ok, but it couldnt hurt to start with that.  You might want to check your solder joints in general too, I had a similar issue with a non working channel after changing the coupling caps to K75-10s.  After a couple of rounds of troubleshooting with the bottlehead folks, it wound up being a questionable solder joint on one of the tube sockets.  Do you have a solder remover?

Use your DMM to test for continuity from signal pin to ground on the suspect output jack.  If there is continuity, yes, the jack is shorted.  If there is not continuity, you will have to look elsewhere on that side of the circuit. The Q is a pretty simple circuit.  Get out the magnifying glass and look for solder bridges in the circuitry of the dead channel.  Let us know the results!

  Big long buzz on the multi meter when testing suspect out put jack. I'll remove this and see if it can be salvaged. More to come.

worst case, you can replace the jack.  They're pretty cheap.

How many volts do you get if you put the voltmeter across the 2 inside batteries?  (you will have to flip the preamp over to the side with the batteries on it for this-measure between the positive terminal of one battery and the negative of the other-it should be ~38v if the batteries are fresh).  Is this a Quickie 1.1 without the pjccs?  Maybe check continuity from the battery supply to terminals 2 and 7 too, sounds like the either the batteries are weak or the voltage isn't making it to the terminals.  (when the batteries die I usually notice b/c the volume has to be turned up a lot more-just happened to me yesterday...  )

  Only showing 18.4v @ the battery's. This has the pjcc. Thank's for the help. When measuring for continuity between 2 & 7 I get a buzz.

nevermind, this shouldn't apply since the pjccs is installed.  In a Quickie with the pjccs, the 38v goes from the batteries to the pjccs board (IA and IB).  Do you have any voltage there?  The other measurements you'll want to check are A6/B6, and A5/B5.

Let us know what you think of the mullards. The Q is especially responsive to change, as there isn't much there in the first place. That could be part of the secret to it's success.

  Close to 20hrs. on the Mullards, integrated with the Stereomour which has JJ 2a3's & a Telefunkin. The listening experience is moving to say the least. We do vinyl 99.5% of the time. If I could stop spending rat hole $$$ on motorcycles & vinyl I would give a Submissive a go.
