Wailin' Jennys

The Jennys have been steadily climbing up my playlist rankings since picking up the 40 days album in December thanks to the rec here.

I've recently been listening to the Bright Morning Stars and 40 Days albums and i'm really starting to love this band. The albums are beautifully recorded too. Thanks for turning me onto them Grainger :)

You are welcome!

The Live album has some surprises on it.  One is an acapella version of Summertime.  And, of course, several of their well established hits.

Can't remember why I purchased 40 Days all those years ago but I loved it from the first listen. I got Bright Morning Stars when it was released but it didn't hit me as hard. Maybe I'll give it another listen.

BTW, this is my first post here. :)

I would give Morning stars some listening time as it will grow on you. The lead singer Ruth Moody also has a few albums under her own name that are worth checking out too.

Not to sure about the Brian May & Kerry Ellis version of Ruth Moody's One Voice

That will be hard to do live.  I think I prefer Wailin' Jennys, but I like the guitar work.  I'm a sucker for acoustic guitar well done.

I went to see Mark Knopfler and his band last night which was a treat, nice mix of new and old material, even played a few old Dire Straits songs.  Just when i thought it couldn't get any better Ruth Moody came out on stage for a few songs, that alone was worth the price of admission.
