Thanksgiving Stereomour

I finished the build of my Stereomour on Thanksgiving day and have been enjoying listening to it for the last couple months. The sound really truly is fantastic. I didn't post photos then because I was working on a custom base for it. It took a bit of time for the finish. I just got the knobs and Bottlehead badge in today and was able to complete the project.

The base is made from zebra wood. I applied several coats of 'tung oil finish' to accentuate the colors of the grain and sealed it with a gloss spar varnish. Because of the board width I had available the base is 3" tall instead of the stock 3.5".

I am extremely pleased with how this project turned out. I love the look and the sound is fantastic. Big thanks to the whole Bottlehead crew, but especially Eileen for being absolutely great to deal with.

Thanks guys!

I just got the knobs today and am very pleasantly surprised by them. I got them from Mouser, part no 450-6008. They are aluminum with a really nice feel. The best part is that there is a roughly 3/16" recess on the bottom. That fits perfectly over the nut that secures the source switch and the edges of the knob are then only a millimeter or so above the amp's top plate (mixing up my measurement scales there). Price was right too. Not affiliated with Mouser or the manufacturer, just really happy with the results of a shot in the dark.

Nice work I really like the zebra wood, there is a specialist timber supplier close to me who stocks both Zebrano and Purpleheart two types of wood which I have been tempted to build a custom case for my Crack out of. I have the same knob on my Crack but it looks a little bit to big on the Cracks smaller chassis but suits your Stereomour.
