G Grainger49 New member Mar 8, 2013 #2 It is often personal preference. I prefer small diameter solder. Since it is sold by weight, it wouldn't make much difference in price.

G grufti New member Mar 9, 2013 #5 I hope you mean .031". The other (.31) would be way too thick for electronic work.

G Grainger49 New member Mar 26, 2013 #8 I prefer a small diameter solder. That allows putting as much or little solder on at a time as I want. Good electronic solder has flux in it. Whatever type is in the solder you chose will be fine. I have never known what flux was in the solder I used. It is my habit to clean the tip before and after every solder joint. This keeps the tip clean. Good luck!
