Shunt reg. for Stereomour?

balancedtriode

I was reading topics on the old forum and came across one where PJ talked about a shunt reg mod for the stereomour, that he was hopping to get around to doing some day when the eros and stereomour were done and released. Is this still a future possibility or has it gone by the wayside? I am just very interested in making my stereomour the best it can be!
thanks

Wow, I totally forgot that! The issue is there is no spare tube for a hybrid regulator. Might be possible to fit a couple gas tubes under the hood - I think that's what I was thinking. Either that or a compactron triple triode, which would require drilling out the center tube socket.

to be honest I would love this as an upgrade and I bet there are many bottlehead's who would like that as an upgrade aswell, even if it requires a drilling a hole.

So, taking this even one step further -- is there enough juice in that transformer for a fully shunt regulated 2a3 monoblock?

Sorry, had to ask :-).

Probably. The voltage would drop with the reg, so it would go back to the RCA operating pit (250v/60mA/2500 ohms)

I did work up a possible DC filament supply but haven't built one yet. Our recent experiments call BS on the "AC only" crowd...

Sounds interesting on the DC filaments -- I've been an AC filament kind of guy but that is based just on what I've heard so far, but willing to keep an open mind.
