Actually it's a mirror-like laminate from alsa-corp.  It's just reflecting the floor.

I, too, was sucked into the wood front plate for a moment, then I noticed the reflection.

These were originally Edgarhorns. Dr Edgar's design is still the foundation for my system though they have evolved a lot. Basically they're three way front loaded horns. The midbass is an 80 hz exponential horn that uses an Electovoice 15" driver. The midhorn is a 350 hz tractrix that takes over at 500 hz and goes up to around 7 khz. The drivers are RCA field coil compression drivers from the 1930s and produce the most natural midrange you can think of. The tweeters are Fostex TA500 that enter at around 7 khz. Each driver has it's own Paramount amplifier. The parafeed caps in the tweeter and mid amps do the crossover duties. The only other crossover component is a pllxo LP before the midbass amps.

For bass duties I'm using a pair of Karlson's modified as per Tucker's recipe. They integrate very well. This are driven by the McIntosh amp you see between the speakers. The box beside it is a Marchans passive 4th order low pass for them. It's driven by it's own Sex amp.
