Grainger ,I saw a pic or your paramours and was reading about 12at 7 change to a 76 tube.Could you PM me the info about this change. did you do it to change the sensitivity or was it for the sound of the tube. Also are the OPTs in the pic still available from MQ ? they are stunning. And very expensive I bet.

Jann,

It lowers the gain of the system.  I have more than enough even after the change.  I listen to the system at 11:00.

I like the difference in sound and presentation.

I'll PM the instructions.

Jann,

I just realized that I don't know if you have Paramour (originals) or Paramour IIs.  I have a write up for both.  They are different.

I have the paramour 2s I have always thought the 2 had the c4s is there any other difference, seems like I remember there being a different transformer in the early ones. Also tell me a bit about your opts.Jann

Jann,

It went to a larger footprint, rearranged the terminals, put the hum pot through the top plate and some other differences.  The later Paramour (originals) all came with the C4S as well.

Now I will PM the instructions.

I hope the assembly goes well.  Mine was a Paramour but a couple of others said my updated instructions work well for the II.

Hey Grainger, Just saying Hi! Great you have your own "corner"!  I've just started looking at all my parts , etc. and getting the bug again.  I've been enjoying my system as it was- now thinking about some upgrading.  To be topical, I highly recommend the 76's- mine are still in with some homemade adapters I made.  I used 18-ga solid wire to go from the tabs on the 76 socket into the 9-pin socket, and I put in a resistor in connection that adds up to the right amount with the stock C resistor.  I haven't got around to enlarging the holes for the new sockets yet....

Glad to see you back!  Matts was a long time poster on the old site.  We lost a few in the transition.

Harbor Freight makes a knock out set that has the right size.  I'll send you the link or catalog number.
