Paramount w/Beepree

hi there,

I am going to eventually be getting the Paramounts....and I have a few questions:

1.  I have seen some people running a Submissive into Paramounts with no Pre-Amp.  Is this a matter of preference?...not to influence the sound with a preamp and have only the Paramounts amplifying?  What would be the benefits of having a BeePre - both would be 300B tubes? 

2.  On the old site when looking at Products there used to be a special if you ordered a BeePre with Paramount you would save some $$.  i don't see this anymore.  Is the deal gone?

3.  There have been a lot of specials going on lately....will there be one for Paramounts soon ?

I can only help a little.  The Paramount can be wired for either 300B or 2A3 output tubes.  So the BeePre can be the 300Bs in your system and the Paramounts can run 2A3s.

Hi Dave,

The people using a Submissive with the Paramount probably took advantage of a special we offered a while back to promote the then new Submissive kit by packaging it with Paramount. The combo works very well, though some may find that they need a bit more gain from their source.

I am very proud of our BeePre - when I say our I mean that PJ and PB both had a very large part in that design. I also really love the sound of it and thus would choose that over a Submissive when running with Paramounts.

We have yet to figure out a way to list combo packages like Paramount and BeePre on our web site in such a way that the orders work seamlessly in our  accounting software so we have been a bit tardy in listing them. That said we always offer a 10% discount on an amp and preamp kit when purchased together. As to advance notice of specials, people always ask me when such and such will be going on sale. We seldom know in advance when we will be doing a special. Generally specials are determined by me calling everyone together for an impromptu meeting in Eileen's office. We look at how sales are, what our shipping backlog is, what inventory we have available to sell and whether or not we can discount the product without losing our shirt. So the time from determination of what special to offer to actually announcing that special is usually an hour or so.
