NEW WEBSITE COMING!

We have been cooking up a new website for the past six months or so. Mike Muncy and Josh Perelli of Helix Creative have been working hard to create something elegant and easy to navigate. I just got off the phone with code master Josh and he says we are ready to launch.

We will make the transition to the new site tomorrow night. So if you see things hiccup a bit don't worry, it will just be Josh soldering in the last few connections on the forum and adjusting the trimpots on the shopping cart.

So... a new URL for Bottlehead or just a software update?

I'm an engineer, you have to hit us over the head.

Nice upgrade.  Well worth the waiting.

But Grainger's going to need to find a new color for his text...

Very nice!  Where's the buy button for the bottlehead DAC?  ;)

I know, I know.  It will be ready when it is ready.

You should sail across the sound and come have a listen?

Glad we're back now. I have been lonely without the Bottlehead forum for the past few days. Looks great by the way.

Doc,

A couple of punch list bugs...

- I can't login or even access the new site on either of my mobile devices - Android phone and tablet.  I've tried two different browsers, cleared my caches, etc but still come to the maintenance screen with the "moving to a new site" message.
EDIT - If I delete the www. from the url the new site loads fine.  Maybe the new DNS routing hasn't fully propagated.

- Can't upload an avatar image (this may be w feature, not a bug, but you could do it prior)

- if you click "show unread posts", then click to a specific post, then click "show unread posts again" to get back to the list, it seems to have marked all the posts in the list as read, not just the ones you've clicked on

- clicking "mark all messages read" results in a URL error.

Otherwise it seems to be very snappy.  Moving to a new site is a real PITA (I used to do this stuff in a former life). I'm sure it will shake out really well over the next few days.

Yes, still some bugs. Get the nice new website on my Android phone, but can't logon to the forum from it. All ok on the laptop.

I saw that immediately.  New color, Lime Green.

Looking forward to seeing more of the distinctive Grainger color

Thanks, now I need to get my Avatar back.

Edit: I got it back this morning.  Didn't do anything different so Doc must have fixed.

Thanks for the bug reports. Please do post any glitch you find here. The development of this site has been a six month project and the web design crew is taking some very much needed time off after this feat of heavy lifting. We are going to let the new site run over the weekend and we will address the issues on Monday.

thumbnails of pictures seem to have been "lost" get a blue box with a question mark instead in some posts - for example see http://bottlehead.com/smf/index.php/topic,5711.0.html

Yes images are coming up scrambled if you click on their link. We will look into it.

Looks like most of the images got corrupt, or didn't copy over properly.  Every one in my thread is blank, but the correct file size when downloaded.

Also public users cant upload attachments, web server permissions for the upload folder are incorrect.  Error is "The attachments upload directory is not writable. Your attachment or avatar cannot be saved."
