I've had nothing but problems with those teflon sockets, and have often had to remove them from builds that come in for repair.  They will be a bit easier to get out of the Smash at least.

Paul are you talking about the Yamamoto Teflon sockets (bronze/silver/100% gold), or the cheaper Chinese sockets, with bronze/nickel/gold(33-50%) .  I have never had or heard of a problem with any Yamamoto sockets.  I have used quite a few of their Teflon sockets.

My experiences were back before the Chinese sockets came around, or at least I hadn't figured out how to buy them yet.

I actually really like the Chinese 4 pin jumbo Teflon socket.

Any pictures of the finished preamp? I would really like to see the underside. Based on your initial pictures it is probably one of the cleanest builds I’ve seen.

I just have to add that there are those out there with a special/natural talent for making mundane wiring look like art. The curving of the wire is something that I will keep in mind on my next project. Thanks.
