New Build Ohms Question *Answered & Fixed*

Greetings to the denizens of the forum. I finished my Eros build. The whoa voltage tests all went well. Last test before point to point was 381.7 (target voltage 375v) and 6.288v (target 6.3v). Fluke 179 meter.

When I did the Ohms test, some were higher than target, some were close but two were low.  9 and 10 39k target, 26.76k. I started looking over the build. Is this a bad omen? Thanks!

There are no multipliers on your "actual" readings.  I expect that terminal 2 which should be 71k Ohms is 85k Ohms.  That is a little higher than the specified +/- 15% that is allowable.  The same thing goes for terminal 14.  Terminals 12 and 4 are off as well.

I'd want an "Official/paid" Bottlehead to give their blessing on those.  The others are within 15%.

Some resistance measurements will vary here and there.  A resistor that is not in its proper position will manifest itself as either an incorrect voltage or an issue with the RIAA equalization, which is quite audible.

You are right Paul. Thanks. My first bosses, Bruce and Joe are rolling in their graves saying stupid Richee! Stupid! Two pairs of resistors were in wrong place. I'm partially color blind, the wife helped me sort them, I measured them and marked them, but I mixed up two pairs though.

Anyway, swapped them around, terminal 9 and 10 now measure 42 Ohms, 39 target. Tubes in, power on, all whoa final voltages very close to spec.

One odd thing about two resistors in the kit. Page 27 says install 113 Ohm Dale (1130F) resistor in R1 on A side of the servo PC  boards. I had two 1302J Dale metal film resistors in the kit that measured 113 Ohms, so I used them. The only resistors that ranged from near spot on to 5% over were the eight 220 Ohm carbon resistors.

Oh, just something I noticed. In the parts list, two 113 Ohm resistors are listed as 1130F or 113. A few lines down, two 301 Ohm resistors are listed as 1130F. In the build instruction, page 27, the 301 Ohm resistors are listed as 3010F.

Other than that, the build manual is excellent. I had it printed in color, even though....lol I can't wait to try it out this weekend!

Thanks! Paint of choice was Rust-Oleum Black enamel. Not an automotive clear coat, but looks good enough from as far away as I will sit from it. I've seen folks wet sand and rub out Rust-Oleum to a glossy finsih after it cures for days, but I didn't want to wait as long.

The build went fairly quick. The point to point had me mentally challenged at times, but no mountain for a climber. Just a hill to a big stepper...lol
