Near Field, Desktop Speaker Listening w/ a SEX

I’m awaiting for my first kit to arrive (the S.E.X.), and plan to use it as a desktop amplifier… but I need to pair it with some speakers well suited for jazz and with a tiny footprint … suggestions?

I've owned four pair. I was listening to a pair as the surround speakers in my home theater tonight. They are very special. Near field is their forte.

I second the Orca suggestion - have used them on my desktop with a sex for years. I also like the fibhorn 2 with the fostex sol driver. The fibhorn 2b looks interesting too. I bought a decware tiny radial kit but haven't finished it yet. Madisound has some speaker kits and the Mark Audio Tozzi kit has always interested me....

Yeah, they’re great. I use them in my dining room system now since I bought Jagers for the main system, but they’re really nice speakers. Clark is a nice dude, too, really helpful and willing to chat if you need help deciding.

Thanks for the advice folks… went ahead and ordered some of the new Tuned Thickness Orcas … hopefully the SEX transformer supply chain works itself out and I get to building!

I've been prepping S.E.X. kits the last few days. Here's the output iron. When the power transformers arrive (I wish I could say when that will be, hopefully next week?) we will be able to ship them out quickly.

I built the Overnight Sensations MTM to pair with my S3X amp (4 ohm setting).. They work really well.. Am happy with the sound.. very good for near field listening..

Thoughts on wiring the SEX for 4 or 8 ohms when paired with the 8 ohm Orcas? I’ll probably be doing 80% near field listening with the speakers vs 20% with my 80 ohm DT770 Pros. Thanks!
