My Q2 Office System

Installed the PJCCS upgrade last week, and I notice a definite improvement.  These old Klipsch KSB1.1's aren't the worst match in the world either, they sound pretty good.

The rubber bands were an attempt to reduce the microphonics, I don't think they're actually doing anything, but someone had tried it and recommended it.  The microphonics are only really a problem if the system is being moved or touched in any way, so not that worried about it.

I love this Bottlehead thing!  I need to put the badges on.  The boxes are the 2" deep Hammond enclosures.  The interconnects, right-angle adapters and banana plugs are all from Monoprice.  Batteries from BJ's Wholesale Club, and still my original set.  I don't know how many hours I have on them, but I haven't noticed any degradation in sound yet.

Cool system!  Wish I had some tubes to listen to at work  8)  One thing you could try for microphonics that would damp the tubes a lot is copper plumbing couplings.  If you wrap the tube with some aluminized tape (the kind used to fix dryer ducts) on the tube then slide the coupling over, it reduces microphonics a lot (wasn't sold on damping at first, but wow, what a difference).

Thanks for the nice comments.

Dave, I may have some plumbing couplings around, I will give that a shot.  Thank you.

Grainger, trust your instincts, stay far away from computers and computer books.  I've been doing it a long time, I'm actually super burned out right now and seriously considering some kind of leave of absence from work.  Tired of this crap, just want to listen to music!

I had to laugh at Graingers post, having worked in the computer bushiness for 20 odd years the sight of those books gave me a migraine.  I know exactly where you are coming from, i took a few years out and just worked on building cars for people as i needed the change in scenery.  Back in the IT game now though, in the voice of Al Pachino "Just when I thought I was out, they pull me back in" :)
