My crack attempt

This is my first use of aniline dye and hammertone paint so I'm not sure how they are supposed to look but I thought they came out okay. Not quite finished yet because I'm going to put some urethane on the base to shiny it up a little but wanted to get this on here for all to see.

The hammertone came out looking like it has "gold flecks" in it, I like it.  I would say excellent compared to my one try at hammertone.  Mine doesn't really look like hammertone, just an ugly finish.

I used the Rust-Oleum version and it's supposed to be copper colored. The  camera flash may have washed it out some.

The trick with hammertone paint is to lay on one thick, even coat. Takes some practice. The "several light coats" approach will not hammer as dramatically, particularly if there is much drying time between coats.

WOW! thats way cool. Thanks for posting. I've been looking for examples of different shades of analin dye. So far just the red...which is nice...has been posted. Blue is nice. I've been considering it and yellow as well, as a southwestern sorta pastel look with the stock aluminum. Please post more when finished!

Nice dye job. I am looking fo analine dye in my area with no luck and its hard to really read color nuance on the web. Where did you find yours at?
