From the office guys. I give them Turkish pistachios and they give me booze - :)

All very good. The Kraken is rich, smooth and flavorful, gotta get some hot buttered rum batter. JJ's apple pie moonshine rocks! Don't need nothin', not even ice. 70 proof, with apple juice and a cinnamon stick which is visable. Not going to add anything, just pour and drink at room temp. The single barrel rum will make some extra good rum & cokes.

Whacha drinkin'?

I am sorry, I just HAVE to laugh my butt off with the name... The KRAKEN!!..hahahahaha.. that is classic....

Yeah, I thought it was pretty gimmicky too.  I saw it in the store and didn't buy it for that reason.  So I get a bottle for free - :)  I sampled some and it's pretty good, better than I was expecting.

I'd trade Pistachios for booze any day!

For holiday drinks I like Egg Nog with Jack, and I have to add some insulin to offset the Egg Nog.

Sure, I understand Mike... I  might have bought it just because the name is so funny.. I can appreciate their "positive, confident" sense of humor... AND, on my way through Loch Ness. I stopped and picked up a Loch Ness Highland Single Malt at the gift shop... :).... Have to say also , it was better than I expected as well....  Hmmm makes me think...Loch Ness monster whisky and Kraken bourbon... Not at all too disimilar...:)

Yes, we remember pedantic Paul under the egg nog "influence"..... However, we immediately gave him a "pass", because we love him... :)

Hmmm...  I should add that I used to make up some Wassail, apple juice based mulled cider.  Add to that a generous splash of dark rum.  I think that Capt. Morgan was a good one.

The Kracken rum looks interesting.  Does it do battle with the Highlander?

My experience with moonshine is that it is clear, but kicks like a mule.  What type of liquor is Cruzan?

I would love to try the Kraken , because it is dark as hell....To me, that means FLAVOR usually? and hmmmm Nessie versus the Kraken?? I guess it depends on which continent you ask...:)

Kraken is good.  I had a few barks right out of the bottle and I wasn't expecting it to be so smooth especially at 94 proof.  It's flavored and will make great hot buttered rum.

The moonshine is flavored too, apple juice & cinnamon, low octane 70 proof.  Sweet.  Good holiday beverage straight up.

The Cruzan is single barrel rum with a flavor between say Barcardi light & dark.

I am mostly a beer and wine guy myself but I have a bottle of the Jameson, Black, or whatever it is. Not a bad wee dram...John

Yea I agree Mike.. They should try not to use cheesy or gimmicky names... It always "cheapens" the image of what may be a very decent product....Having said that, IF the product is the very king of the hill?? then, it could be a real cool name.... But, names like the Kraken, can be responsible for less than deserved sales...

Its a bit of a family tradition to pic Sloe berries during the autumn in and make our own Sloe Gin this gets opened over the xmas hols the bottle on the far right its a lovely deep purple colour.

I also have just enough Scotch left to mix with a little ginger wine to make what is know here as a "Whisky Mac" its a nice warming winter tipple.  My Whisky bottle is nearly empty and I need to save the last drop for Santa on Christmas eve. Fingers crossed he will leave me a fresh supply  ;)

I got the good rum for free, so I bought a case of the good Coke;

Mexican Coke in long necks.  Made with sugar and not high fructose corn syrup.  It's muy bueno!

Don Julio anejo with a Shiner Bock on the side. Good whiskey is made for sipping, not mixing.

Have a friend with a nice whiskey still that makes some approaching 180 proof. Talk about something that warms you from the inside out and quickly. His son makes a nice smooth apply pie.

Sounds like we will all have a Merry Christmas!!!

Stopped off at Rock Bottom (Bethesda) with some friends for a snifter of Atom Smasher and a pint of Trouble and then home for White Russians
