HD 800's- not blown away

I run a Crack w/ Speedball. I use NOS tubes, did bypass caps and PS cap upgrades, PEC volume pot and a few other things. I have HD 600's with Cardas cable and think the sound is 1st rate,

Recently tried HD600's and was not blown away to the point of buying the 800's. In fact, in some aspects, I thought the 600's were nicer

What gives?

All headphones have some sort of sound signature, regardless of how neutral or flat it is. That being said, it becomes a personal preference to what's "best". I absolutely love my 800's but I also have some mild EQ to bring up the very low end and tame down the treble peak. Different tubes can also drastically alter the sound, for better or worse.

What is it about the HD800 that you don't like compared to the HD600?

I also love my HD800s, but I must agree that they have a treble peak around 6kHz.
The pyrates on Changstar have done a frequency response analysis with a time axis.
Doc B has already started using the Anax mod, version 3 is in the works.

I posted this, Maxhawk, it would be great with some input, what You think.
