Has anybody heard of this book on amp design?

I just came across a few books on amplifier design on iBooks that are accessible to me. There are the two Morgan Jones books, plus another one that I've never heard of called, "valve and transistor audio amplifiers" by John Linsley Hood.

None of these are cheap aand if the Hood book is better than the Jones books, then I'll get that one. I also realize that the Jones books are highly slanted to push-pull topology and I'm not even sure he mentions parafeed at all.

Any advice or input appreciated.

They are that good.  For beginners and construction, Jones is the best.    I saw the Hood book and would pass on it as it is not in the same league IMO. 
Another set to get is the navy series that you can download from the internet, they are an excellent intro to tube electronics.
 
Thanks for the input and I am leaning to the Jones books.

The problem with the navy series is that they are pictures of the original textbooks in pdf form and my screen reader won't read those -- along with just about every other tube manual and book on amp design out there.

All the titles on iBooks are readable to me, so that's why I'm interested in what they can offer.

Valve Amplifiers, by Morgan Jones is pretty much the gold standard. I have the 3rd edition and there is a wealth of info in its 616 pages. Yes he leans to P-P and has his favored valves but there is a worked example of a SET amp.

It is very much a Text book, starting with basic theory, to components, to building blocks and more theory. The example amps are not so much, build this but a complete walk thru of the design process.

It is well written but not an easy read and there is plenty of math. It is not the first book I would point a beginner to but it is very complete and I highly recommend it.

The second book, Building Valve Amplifiers, is just that, tools and technique. Plenty of good info but not indispensable.

That sounds like just what I need -- mostly a refersher but a good bit of filling in holes as well. At some point it may be worth getting the Hood book just to correlate the SS stuff a bit better too.

J. L. Hood wrote a lot for Wireless World back in the seventies when I was reading it religiously. I think he's a better engineer than Jones, and my recollection is that he's a better writer as well. Anything he writes is likely to be well worth studying, even if he does not cover what you are looking for.
