Errors in Resistance [Resolved]

I seem to be having issues with resistance.  I have double checked all my solder joints and all seems to be OK.  I have re-soldered anything suspect.  Here are my readings:

Also, the LED on A8 and A9 is not lighting up.  I took some pictures of the areas that seem to be having issues.

Any help would be greatly appreciated!!

Since you've already powered up your Reduction, could you post any voltages that are off (you don't need to post any that are OK).

And maybe take another look at the two terminal lugs circled in orange in the attached.  They don't look soldered - but that could just be an effect of the photo.

thanks for the replies!  After posting, I went through everything again and noticed the LED not working is damaged.  I am ordering a new LED.  Once installed I will post my voltages.

got new LEDs.  Replaced, now all LEDs light up.  But voltages WAY off.  Seem to be almost double what they should.

What AC line voltage did you measure, where do you live, and which power transformer voltage did you wire for?

I double checked that .  I am in USA, was hitting 123V.  Power Transformer Secondary Test is good.

If the power transformer secondary tests are OK but you are getting ~2x the DC voltages, I would verify that your meter is working (use it to measure the voltage of a fresh 9V battery), then I'd be looking for loose connections.

Loose grounds will make wacky DC voltages that don't make a lot of sense.

thank you for the quick replies!!  checked meter with a 9V.  All good.  I went through all solder joints, re-soldered a few just to be safe.  resistance issue starts around 44,45,46 that I can tell.  Took a pic just to see if anything looks off..

Just by chance could it have anything to do with page 33 of the instructions where it says leads should go to 57L but pics show 56L?

I'm just a novice at this stuff and don't have a Reduction, so please don't start soldering stuff based on anything I say here - please wait for PB to confirm! 

Your latest pic of the power supply filter looks a bit odd to me. As best as I can tell, that filter circuit will only work if the terminals I've circled in yellow are connected. I can see leads going from one terminal to the other, but no sign of solder on the destination terminals.  I suggest looking at the manual to see if they were meant to be connected.

I do however see that the terminals circled in green are connected. As best as I can tell, those connections serve no purpose.  Unless they are there to support a future upgrade. I would double check the manual to see that they are meant to be connected. Maybe these are the missing yellow connections and got swapped by mistake?

Just my best guess.

This arrangement is there to allow for the Integration upgrade to be more easily installed.

I would follow the black wire that starts at 46 and snakes around the power supply and up to the front of the amp.  Reflow every joint where those black wires connect; one is very likely loose.

Just saw that PB has posted - but I still think there's an error in the red wiring. It turns out there's a pic of the completed Reduction wiring on the BH products page. It shows that one of the two red wires you have connected at terminal 56 should be connected to terminal 57 (the lower lug of the terminal to which the +ve side of the last cap is attached).  Please see attached pic.  And ignore my last post - that was just a shot in the dark made without the benefit of a schematic.

Those terminals are wired together, so that wouldn't do much.  That is also something that got changed between the prototype and what got written into the manual, so there's no issue there.

I was concerned about the red wire to 56 or 57 also.  If I recall is the latest instructions it is changed, but there is a typo in the instructions.  I had posted in the forums earlier about it earlier.  Here is the pic form the manual.

Elizabub: apologies if I caused any confusion! Based on what PB has stated, as long as the terminals I previously circled in yellow are in fact wired together in your amp, all is good here and the problem lies elsewhere.

With regard to the LED that isn't lighting, if you wiggle the bare buss wire on that side that goes into pin 9 on the 9 pin socket, is it loose?  (If so, this is the kind of issue that will give you those weird voltages, but it would need to be more than just this connection)

I replaced the broken LED last night and retested everything. It lights up now.  I was hoping it was just the LED haha.

You may have also nudged the solder joint where the banded end of the LED connects. 

I'm only bringing this up because every Reduction I've had in for repair has had a solder joint issue at pin 9 on at least one of the sockets.  It seems to be a common issue to get that joint all the way flowed.

I did notice that voltage seems to be slightly lower that recommended, not sure if that is an issue.  I am adding pics of the location that seems suspect (43-48).  Checked connections and re-flowed anything suspect.

We tweaked the manual a little bit, as some of those power supply terminals were transposed by 1 and not correct.  The voltage set you have is what a working Reduction looks like.
