Just completed the bases for the units, I used quarter sawn white oak, dying it black to match the rest of my components.  Both units worked perfectly from the initial startup.  I'm really enjoying the upgraded sound, listening to all my older records that haven't seen the light of day for years.  Thanks for the superb assembly manual.

Those are some fancy bases.  It must've been a bit of fiddly work with a chisel to get the groove for the panels into the side pieces?

Very nice. The stock kits will impress, but it is always great to see someone make it their own. Good work Jim.

Very nice work, does the mixing console next to the Thorens belong to the Teac Reel to Reel? If not what is it? Thanks.

Thanks for the comments.  The racks were built by me, woodworking has been my number 1 hobby for many years.  I found the design looking at racks on-line and couldn’t bring myself to shell out the money,  I knew I could make myself for a lot less.  That’s one of the reasons I have found Bottlehead so intriguing. Just edge joined some boards, the uprights are PVC pipe, painted, and the connectors are all thread with cap nuts on top.  I trained as a musician in my youth and still try to keep my chops up, I do some home recording of my playing with the TEAC 4 track and use the mixer to layer tracks, it’s nothing spectacular but I have a lot of fun doing it. I’m sure I could find a digital program that would be better but there’s something about seeing that R to R spinning that intrigues me.
