Having lived always in Mexico City I'm used to the earth shaking bu this was awful and scary. I was in an elevator 14 stories above ground.

Wow!  I'm glad to hear you are fine.  What an experience being in an elevator.  I would suppose they shut down from such a motion.  Were you stuck in the elevator?
