Custom Quickie

After almost 3 months of dealing with additional Cancer complications, I have just been able to finish my Custom Quickie.  I started out with a dimension and material type for the top plate and went from there.  The build was extremely fun and frustrating, but the three month delay was not.  Hope you enjoy the 11 photos at the link below (never know how to do this correctly).

Very nice work. Super clean build and impressive woodworking.

What kind of wood is the base?

What brand are the 2.2uf?

How do you like those Nichicons? I liked them so much in my Quickie I threw them in my TOF SEX as well.

That is amazing woodwork and metal work as well.  The burl is just gorgeous, but it must be thin.  It must really be hard to work with something that thin.  I see that you used Auricaps and Obbligato Gold Premiums in it.  Nice choices.

Wow. I mean, wow. I have seen a lot of custom chassis for our kits over the years, and this one is quite possibly the most beautiful I've seen.

Would like to thank everyone for their nice comments, has really boosted the moral here in Homer.  Just notice that I am classified as a newbie, but for the record I have been lurking around for quite sometime, I believe 7+ years, and have built almost all of the Bottlehead Kits.  Next up is the Crack(still in the box) and a Tubelab SE 45, have become very fond of the 45 tube.

Grainger49; the top plate is maple burl a little thicker than .25", not really a problem to work with.  I have always wanted to have the ability to easily compare caps, so in this Quickie I installed a three way switch with Obbligato film/oil caps(top of plate), Obbligato Gold Premium Caps, and Auricaps all bypassed with a Vishay MKP 1837.

The wood is call Chechen, it is from Mexico.  It has become one of my favorite woods, excellent to work with and finish and it is rather inexpensive.  Highly recommended.

I like the Nichicon muse caps alot, try to use them when ever I can.

Wardsweb, thank you very much for the nice compliment.  I have enjoyed seeing your projects over the years, always have liked your excellent craftmanship and design, and you Sir also have skills.

For the record, it always takes me longer to build the base than it does the electronics.

This is possibly the most beautiful Bottlehead project I have ever seen.

Did you make the nine pin socket plates yourself? It seems I have seen something similar before, but can't remember where.
 
Well Lee, from one craftsman to another, if you're ever in or around San Antonio, TX dinner is on me. Would love to spend some time with a fellow audio junkie.

glennn111, yes I did machine the nine pin socket plates.  VT4C.com has similiar socket plates, but it is more fun to make them yourself, if you have the proper equipment.

Absolutely awesome. This has got to be one of the coolest DIY amps I've ever seen! Almost has a steampunk look to it....

Doc, appreciate the comment and thank you for adding the photo, also congrats on the new digs, maybe I will come down for the open house.  Making it through the last three months I deserve a vacation! 
 
Dr. Toobz; the calibrated knobs came from Handmade Electronics (www.hndime.com), VT4C Studio (www.vt4c.com) also has some really nice calibrated knobs but they are more expensive.
 
Pretty amazing/inspiring what you can do with a simple Quickie when you really get creative.  You've given me some great ideas for my next project.
 
Just stunning. Let's hear it for cancer-surviving music lovers (Burkitts survivor here). Do the Crack (and Speedball), get a pair of HD800s, and enjoy. We deserve it.
