Custom Preamp for Jrebman

Coltrane and others,

Yes, basically there is a 6 x 10 base for crack, seduction, older FP models, maybe even the quickie with  a  wider kerf, etc, then an 8x10 for paramour II, eros, s.e.x. paramounts, fp3, and a 10x12 for the stereomour.  I imagine soon there will be a 12 x 12 for the BeePre as well.  All the BH kits fit into these size formats

Vampire Connectors makes all sorts of solid copper base RCA and binding posts. Some are mixtures, some are solid.

Yes they do and I do use them, but for this system I wanted unplated OFC, and Vampire does not make those at all.

The only other unplated copper connectors I'm aware of are the Cardas binding posts and the apparently out of production Edison-Price binding posts, and some custom made ones that are proprietary to some cable manufacturers.

It's finally alive!  I put in a marathon day today and got the basics of the system working, including the preamp, my Virtue CDP, the SR-45s and the Nagas.  I didn't have time to get the subs setup yet, but I'm two power cords and two amp/speaker connections away from that, so I'll do that tomorrow.

The sound of this preamp is incredible, as is the rest of the system, but it's going to take a lot more settling in before I know how good it truly is.  The only potential issue here is that the preamp with the SR-45s may not have enough gain as I can turn both volume controls all the way up, and ther is no hint of any kind of distortion, and while it is reasonably loud, I was using a hotly recorded CD, and I may run into problems with lower level recordings and/or phono.  When I hook up the subs tomorrow I'll see how much of that is the missing bottom end.

I will also bring the Orcas in for a test run to see if they fare any better -- the Nagas take a bit more power to get them going, at least it seems that way from my limited testing.

Once I get the basic parts dialed in, then I can bring the 24/192/DSD dac in, and then when I can get a friend of mine to come over and help, the turntable will eet setup as well.

I can tell already, whichever speakers end up in this room on this system, it is going to be amazing.

thanks again Paul B for the preamp and the rest of the BH crew for the great gear, and of course Clark and Molly for the speakers that let the magic come out.
