the plastic replacement stand mount for the board seems to short for me. it's compressing the caps infront/under it. i was able to get the led to light up and correct voltage readings, and good sound but then a blown fuse, i replaced it with my crack fuse and then blown again. there was a humming noise and smoke the second time. i unscrewed the board now to allow space, replace the fuse again (but not sure if its a fast blow) and all sounds good. i think board compressing the caps was the problem so now its dangling below and working. but it doesn't seem like a long term fix. am i doing something wrong?

I'm wondering if maybe you got the wrong length standoff by mistake. Can you measure it or post a pic? As for the other stuff, it sounds like a miswire somewhere, but I'm not sure what. Could also be something shorted in the power supply while mounting the standoff.
Would you be so kind as to clarify for me if this is a clearance problem is with the supplied capacitor, or an aftermarket one? It would be difficult for us to know how much clearance is necessary for, for example, one of several types of Mundorf. But if it's a problem with the stock cap, perhaps we can work out what is going on that is creating the clearance issue.

That's definitely a packing error. We'll get the correct one mailed off to you and the other couple kits that went out recently.

The correct one is 1 1/2". That's more than enough room for the filter caps. The last batch accidentally shipped with the 1" standoffs that are used in other kits; I could see what happened as soon as I saw the pic (and I had guessed based on the original post).
