Crack Update

The switch on my crack was acting up so, took it out to the garage for a little repair/renovation.  After getting it open, found that the switch has been operating for over 2 years with just crimped wires.  A little solder fixed that right up.  While I was there I traded the output caps (parallel 47uF Muldorfs) for some 70 Obligatto oilers.  Also bypassed the last 220uF cap with a 2uF oiler.  Must say, it didn't hurt the sound at all.  These should be great after break in.
It definitely a tight fit.

Your running out or room looks great.

With the choke and big film the ripple in the psu is going to be significantly reduced. I liked the improvement it gave to dynamics and bass when I did mine.  Although I don't really understand yet how the reduced ripple and low esr of the film cap interpolate and bring about the improvement I can hear the benefits the modified circuit imparts easily enough.

Yes, I don't understand it either but the choke and film sound great, it'll only get better with time.  I just go by "cleaner power is better".
The 70's replaced the stock 100's and are bypassed with 1.0 Obligatto films.  The 220 film is bypassed with a 2.0 Obligatto oiler.  The other 220 electrolic's are bypassed by 2.2 Mkp films.

Grainger,
Yes, a pretty big shoehorn.  ;D  It's my bedroom unit so everything has to fit under the Blumenstein skirt, no outboards, girdles or scaffolding allowed.

Impressive how You fitted it all in there!
Do You have pictures from between the alu plate and the chokes and the 220uF?
I am very curious as to how You secured the choke and the 220uF.

Regards

Nothing special, just drilled a couple of holes and used aluminum supports I got from Osh.  Here's some pics from the original upgrade.
