Computers Are Out To Destroy Your Brain !

Nothing in modern life can destroy a man's brain like a computer.  Some have read that I started work again this Monday, or Tuesday as I see it.

I have gone into the contract engineering firm's software to enter my work hours for this week and every time I get an error.  Regardless of what I choose, of what I fill in, it needs something else that hasn't been supplied.  It is unnerving!  I call and get one more grain of information and it isn't all that is needed.  I think they are trying to torture me.

My time was due at end of business yesterday.  I didn't have a computer till yesterday at 3:30 PM at work.  I didn't have access to the internet outside of K-C till 3:15 PM today.  I couldn't communicate with those who could help me.

Insert a large scream here

I know what you are saying Granger - I'm back in the pressure cooker myself. Damned if you do, damned if you dont. Without work you're a bored pauper. With work, an overtaxed slave. At least as a slave I get to rightly abuse myself when I'm off. That require money. Pick you're poison.

Sounds to me like they are trying to get you for free! Hoping you will just give up and donate your time? :)

And as we all know with Mr. Mogorrisin.... That aint going to happen..... He is coming out of this smelling like roses...As it should be of course...

I'm going to be typing like Chris for some time since I bought an Ergo keyboard today.  I had one years ago and loved it.  Now I will rotate between one that is easy on my back at home and one that is set up poorly at work.

I asked the IT guy about an ergo today.  I explained that I have one at home and with my back problems it doesn't cause pain.  He promised to check the boneyard and buy one if there wasn't one there.

In the  same vein as before...  I have been trying to load Rockwell RSLogix 5000 on my desktop at work.  I get all kinds of errors.  This one is amusing.  When I go to the Kimberly-Clark site where I can download software, K-C has their own loading software.  What should we do with the guy who inserted this window?  I suggest Gibbs' slaps on the back of the head till he gets the point.

When it pops up your cursor is not on the window much less the "OK" button. So to get it off of the screen you have to both move your mouse and click on the OK button.  Not to mention 4 more mouse moves and clicks are imperative to finish the download.

Yeah that is pretty amusing... I think it would be even more amusing to watch Mr. Mogorisin "B"slappin' the guy..  I you need help, I can hold him for you....

The above, pop up window, was added to the install routine by Kimberly-Clark's IT guys.  It could have been written better.  But it is horribly misleading.  Better text would help.

On the other side of the coin the Rockwell questions are answered automatically.

In a well-regulated corporate world, the person who wrote that would be eager to get your feedback, would have the authority and resources to fix the problem him or herself, would be easy to locate, and his or her boss would never know or need to know anything about it.

Oh c'mon guys - stop laughing! I was serious!! Honest!!! ...  :^)

As I read it I wondered which corporate world he had been in.  You guys DO know Paul had a pony tail 1/2 way down his back when I met him.  So....  In truth, he worked in the Aero-Space industry.

In the K-C culture, and my work ethic, I could go and talk to him if I knew who it was.  It would be a fatherly discussion asking if he thought he might change the text in the window to more realistically reflect what happens after this window.

Ok, today I feel the need to warn that the new update from Mozilla Firefox acts like a virus.  It installed 3 viruses and I can't type without pop up ads appearing from everywhere.  Words in my Private Messages here on Bottlehead have become links to pop up ads that are totally unrelated.

I have turned off the automatic updates on the laptop.  My desktop is botched.  The internet is unusable, the menus have disappeared and I am hit with an add every 10 seconds.

DO NOT DOWNLOAD THE NEWEST UPDATE! ! !

Grainger that is 100% not a Mozilla update issue, sounds like you might have some good old fashioned malware on there.

Download and install this -> http://downloads.malwarebytes.org/file/mbam/  Just follow the install wizard, next, next, etc, then on the final screen untick the option for "enable free trial of malwarebytes premium", then hit finish. When it first runs it will auto update which should take a second or two, then hit scan and let it do its thing. If it find any nastys and removes them, restart your machine and run it again.

+1 on this.  You might also download and run AdwCleaner :

https://toolslib.net/downloads/viewdownload/1-adwcleaner/

I use both, and thought it's a bit of a belts and suspenders precaution, I find between them they catch the nasties very well.

I promise will do the downloads, but the PC updated automatically and the 3 viruses I eliminated were downloaded in the same minute.

Still, I hate the look of the new Firefox, they are trying to look like Chrome and the reason to have Firefox is because you do not want Chrome.
