There, that might be less confusing. Ok so, I have another little box to make. This one is for myself. Anyway, it has wooden knobs, but maybe only two inputs. There will be the same tube circuit 'cuz I just happen to have one unused. The volume controls will be a little different than the last one. Instead of mono volume controls, this one will have a main stereo control, with a separate right/left fine control.

'AND REMEMBER FOLKS, YOUR SATISFACTION IS GUARANTEED OR, YOUR MONKEY BACK. THA'S RIGHT, AND FOR A LIMITED TIME, I WILL DOUBLE YOUR MONKEY BACK. JUST PAY EXTRA FEED AND HANDLING".

  Sometimes drain bamage is comical.

For what it's worth, I finished box #2. It would have been sooner, but not all companies have as concise instructions as BH! Truthfully, as much as I like the results, I really do prefer the honesty of the Quickie(you know, "Bride of Quickie"). It's a good way for me to find out though. If I didn't try other things, I wouldn't know the difference. OMG, I am flashing(pun intended) about the Bee Pre. There is no escape....

Absolutely! Experimentation is what its all about. Thats how we progress in our knowledge. I have seen 'knock offs' of some of the 41hz stuff from China. Simple circuit designs have been copied or modded slightly for years. Nothing new there. IMO, I would never go back to a 41hz kit again because the support and documentation are crap. Thats what makes the difference.

If a company from China can hire labor for $3/hr to build a kit and sell it assembled for what an American company sells the kit for, go for it. There will be some sort of a market, but not much. A company like Bottlehead will always win over a sweatshop China knock off IMO.

Taking an overlooked resource and making it shine, that's the idea.

I had the opportunity 2 weekends back in Chattanooga to buy some cool looking cee-garr boxes for $5.  I stupidly didn't.  Oh well, live and learn.  I'll call a local cigar store about getting a cool looking one.

Some of them are truly amazing. Someone asked me what I did with the cigars...I said,"I threw 'em out. They were just in the box to keep it dry."

Yep - throw them out, sell them, give them away. Dont get hooked on those suckers. It took me about 10 yrs to kick em for good!

I smoke two cigars a year. My good friend and I go fly fishing every year and it is one of our little rituals. Like President Clinton I don't inhale.  ;)

Yeah, I am sorry, but, I just CANNOT buy any audio gear from china... I never will in no uncertain terms.. I have no respect.....

Clinton inhaled for sure!! But that depends on how you define the term "inhale"... haha and it was our good friend, the "POTATOE" spellin VP Mr. Quayle who didnt inhale... Dang, makes us proud to be American sometimes huh?.... :)

I don't know what my hourly rate is, but let's just say, at $20 profit(labor NOT included) on a $450 ceegar box, I just classify it as a labor of love(I love to build).
