Cascadian Crack

My Crack has a couple alterations, including: teflon tube sockets, locking Neutrick 1/4" jack, Kimber Cable RCAs, Kimber TCSS wiring, metal toggle on/off switch, brass top plate, DIY RCA, headphone, and power cables, and a Speedball.  I used an Early American Minwax stain to contrast with the brass, and I just polished the transformer bell.  I love this thing, it sounds amazing!

That is a very nice customization of the stock Crack.

Did you do the hole cutting in the brass top plate or let the professionals do it.  I'm chicken, I'd let someone else do it.

I drilled the holes.  Except for the tube socket holes, it went pretty easy.  I just used a drill press and some stepped bits.  The brass wasn't horribly expensive, so I wasn't going to be too upset if it didn't come out.

I got your PM about the bell cover and I assumed it would rust without some protection.  The metal polish I used also contains an oil "protectant".  I'm going to keep an eye on it.  It won't take much to clean it up and do something else with it if I need to.  I like the look of the bare metal.

Howdy,

Do you happen to remember how many posts your toggle switch had?  I'm looking at several for my upcoming build and I'm not sure which one to order.  Thanks!

Great job. What type and size of braided sleeving did you use for the headphone cable, and where did you get it? That is my next job...constructing some headphone cables.

You could check out www.diyaudioblog.com.  He goes through a recable job on a pair of DT880's.  Might help out.
