Carolina Crack

I finished my first, but not my last, Bottlehead build. Completely stock for now with possible future upgrades after I absorb how amazing this amp sounds as-is. I had every intention of painting my top plate until my kit arrived and I saw how nice looking the brushed finished was that Doc and team applied to the plate. I could not bare to cover it with spray paint. I even bought a new volume knob but I liked the original better.

Thanks to Bottlehead for the excellent instructions and to all on this forum for the great input. My Crack checked out perfectly after I finished and no troubleshooting was necessary. Again, the sound with my 650's is amazing.

That is an exceptionally clean build. Nice stain on the wood, too.  ;)

FWIW, having pretty much maxxed out my Crack, I can tell you that the biggest gain is to be had by installing the Speedball. Everything else has a much smaller effect (including rolling tubes, installing film caps, replacing the volume pot, etc.).

Congratulations!
Adam

Thanks for the kind words. The Speedball will be at the top of my upgrade list. And thanks, HF9, for your advice on painting - even though I decided not to do it.
