cap repair

These are upgraded  0.1 caps not the stock caps. I have had a minor issue with 2/3 caps. 2 cap leads have broken off where they exit the body. I was very careful with them and on the 3rd put almost no pressure/torque on it all. I held the lead wire with 2 sets of needle noses to make sure I didn't twist it going into the body. Both caps that I had issues with the leads in question seemed kinda wobbly. I was able to solder one lead back on with apparent success. I had to scrape some of the surround off to get to a nub of lead but it has held strong actually.  It doesn't sound any different compared to the other that I can tell. Question is do I stick with it or try another round of ordering another cap? Needed pro opinion. I do like the caps and would try yet another but not if I should be comfortable with the repair of it. Are these much larger/heavier than what we supply?

They are light and relatively small. About 0.5" diam x 1.25 " long. Weight seems the same. The good cap stands up without any issue soldered to the terminal strip. The first cap broke while i was bending in the leads to line up with the strip. I was careful but blamed myself. I don't blame myself for the third one for sure. It broke after it was soldered in and I touched it basically.
They were packaged nice in bubble wrap and peanuts. Leads came straight vs other caps that have had leads bent in towards body. Not that matters just saying they had not been bent before. Both leads in question were wobbly loose feeling to begin with also. When I first picked up the two in question I thought 'that seems odd'. On the second one I thought 'no not again' before I started the install.

You might try contacting the vendor or manufacturer about this.  Those .1's aren't exactly giant, and should be able to support themselves reliably.

I agree. I was going to call them and see how that goes. In my mind I've added solder and therefore changed the cap to some degree and how much dunno. Sounds good but it definitely isn't new anymore do to the 'fix'. So I know if they don't want to replace I'll one again anyway. Thanks for your input.
Thanks for a great kit and manual too. This was a first build of anything like this and it's been saweet!

From the description, I would call that a "defective capacitor". Wobbly leads indicate a less than solid attachment, whether by solder, mechanical crimping, or something else. Even if it works now, the risk of corrosion in the connection makes me worry about eventual failure, or a subtle distortion that may creep up on you and be difficult to diagnose.

PartsConnexion is taking the caps back and will replace one and refund the other. Certainly more than I expected them to do.
