I've finally joined the addicted.  Crack with upgrades, HF9 I hope you consider copying as sincere flattery because my Crack is based on yours.
Still need to add the spike feet, pilot light and knob.

Nice job Alonzo.  Question on your output coupling caps ... they look like Mundorfs so I assume they are.  Did you parallel two lower value to get around 100uf or did you go with more than 100uf capacitance?  Also looks like you bypassed them with Obbligato golds, yes?

Thanks

Thanks Desmond,
Your right, 2 47's paralled with Obbligato bypass.  Velcro'd in for now until I find a way to zip tie them in.  It is definitely crowded.

I wasnt sure, the photo makes them look as big as the 100uF's.  I used the 100uF's in mine.  No bypass.  But just for kicks I was thinking about bypassing with the Vishay 1837's that some seem to rave about.  I have a few around here somewhere.  Only .1uF though, not sure if it would make a difference either way.  Maybe Ill get around to clipping them in for an audition one of these days.

Thanks

I've got to finish the voltage checks and let this one burn in before anymore changes.  I"ve got some oil caps waiting to be used, and lots of chokes laying around.  It would be simplier to switch out the MCaps with single 100uf oil caps, maybe after the holidays...

Desmond,

Just FYI -- those vishay mkp 1837 caps are too low of a working voltage for the crack -- they're borderline but the danger of one failing shorted and putting a whole lot of bolts near your ear, let alone what it will do to the cans, is probably not a good idea.  Steve Koto, PB and I discussed this way back when on this board.

Thanks Jim.  I thought I read that 160v rated cap was ok.  But I wont risk it.  Wasnt like I was in a hurry to dig them up and try it anyway.

Just so you guys know, R2 on the C4S boards is out of the signal path, but R1 is not.

Thanks Paul, I couldn't find anything with small enough leads to fit.  Next time I'm under the hood I'll look at an upgrade.
