Buzzing Noise While Disconnected From RCA

Hi,

I've just recently noticed a buzzing noise coming from the amp when it is disconnected from the RCA cables. I did recently install an ALPS blue velvet so I'm not sure if it is related to that or not. I've swapped tubes and re-flowed the joints in between the pot and the RCA jacks. I have not however re-flowed the solder where the ground is connected on the pot. I thought I would run it by you guys to get your opinions before I did any more work on it.

Again, this only happens while the RCA cables are not connected to the amp.

Thanks,
Patrick

Yes it's probably related the the installation of the non-stock pot. Reflowing the connections might help. But since it only happens when a cable isn't connected and since you can only listen to music when a cable is connected, maybe not such a big deal?

You're right, it's not that big of a deal. I think I'll probably stop messing with it before I make matters worse.  ;D

But Doc, I thought some buzzing was normal if nothing is connected...
There are many potential sources of buzzing that are only evident when the inputs are disconnected. Those sources are external to the amp. So I'd rather say that buzzing is not abnormal in a typical home environment.
