Are the Dayton 10uF caps in the manual oriented the right way?

The reason I ask is, I've done some research and inquiry at Dayton about inner and outer foil and gor this diagram as an answer from the production line:
"Thanks for your inquiry. I asked one of our Product Line Manager your question and here's his results....

OUTER FOIL ----[Dayton Audio Capacitor]----- INNER FOIL

I hope that helps answer your question."

To me, then, it seems the outer foil is oriented towards the OT in the manual build.

When a manufacturer isn't super specific about the orientation of the outer foil (like Auricap or V-cap, who use differently colored wires), then we do not presume consistent outer foil orientation.

There are threads on other forums where outer foils have been measured on various film caps and found to be inconsistent, so in the case of the Daytons in the Mainline, it seemed most appropriate to orient them the same way. When installing upgrade capacitors that do have the outer foil marked, then your assertion would be correct regarding where to locate the outer foil.

I have studied the schematics, trying to understand them. On the regulator board, the outer foil should face -reg, am I right?

This is one of those cases where you should try both ways yourself and see if there is any audible difference. There can be a pretty large gap between the theoretical and a practical application. I've played with this stuff a lot over the years and I can't recall any particular situation where it made much difference - assuming the manufacturer actually orients the outside wrapper the same way on every cap. Possibly more audible is running the cap connected one way for some time and then reversing the leads. Sometimes you can hear a difference until the cap has run for a while again.

Thanks for the reply. I guess it will be hard to A/B too. I find miniscule differenced hard to hear without direct switching.
Right now I am stuck with cleaning off a Hammerite mess.
Wasn't quite content with my last layer, so I added some more after too long. Big mistake...

There are thick chemical paint strippers that will help you.  Your hardware/HD paint guy will tell you if there is any reaction with aluminum.

I've actually managed to get almost everything off with Isopropyl alcohol. There was indeed some rubbing involved, but thanks, Grainger
