2 Questions: Attenuators and Remote Volume Control

I'm using my Moreplay with a Dynakit ST-35. Volume control has a limited range, so based on other threads here I have installed 10 dB Rothwell attenuators at the input to the amp. That has increased the volume pot range a little but less than I was expecting. What other options do I have to give me better volume range?

This leads to the remote control question. Without performing surgery on the Moreplay what can be used to implement remote volume? Is adding another pre upstream (that has remote capability) out of the question? I've been reading about the Fosi Audio P4 on ASR and thought "what if this was added to the signal path?" Would this introduce impedance issues?

Does the Moreplay upgrade address this gain matter at all?

Thanks

The ST-35 isn't super-duper sensitive, but it could be a problem if you have sensitive speakers or a really hot source feeding the Moreplay.

You could perform the mod on Crack FAQ #3 (see the photo on the post) https://forum.bottlehead.com/index.php?topic=4295.0  I'd use 10K resistors where the 75K ones are in the Crack mod and 1K resistors where the 33K ones are.  This should pull a lot more range for you relative to the inline attenuators.  Just be sure you put these on the 10K volume pot, not the balance pot.

The P4 is a solid state preamp and more of a standalone unit.  It is definitely possible to add a remote to a Moreplay (I am constructing one right now actually), but it generally works a lot better with a different chassis.

Put in the volume pot mod, now have greater range of control without the attenuators. Thanks!
